Night of 100 Stars...

So, a few surprises, some extroardinary outfits, some terrible speeches, and a truly impressive stage design…what a night!

On Sunday afternoon we were on the other side of Sunset Strip reporting for you from the Beverly Hilton Hotel at ‘The Night of 100 Stars…’

We saw names such as John Lee Brody, Keith David,
Doris Roberts and Dennis Haysbert.

With tickets going for $1000 dollars a piece this is the biggest pre-Oscar party in Hollywood, and anyone who’s anyone (who wasn’t already in the Kodak theatre of course) was there.

Overhung by crystal chandeliers, and flowing white curtains creating a ‘we’re about to blow straight outta Hollywood baby’ feel, it took almost three press-lined red carpet rooms to hold all of the queuing stars.

Zennie and I had a little giggle about the mass of women wearing sequins and little else in the most unflattering ways – and I have to stick to my earlier tweet – rarely does a multitude of sequins and velvet belong out of the ice rink…

 P

However most outfits were stunning and accompanied by heels so high, their wearers were almost walking backwards.

(Sadly this was not the Dali Lama – but a cool monk all the same!)

The stunning Loretta Devine, actress who plays 'Adelle' in Grey's Anatomy

New age Hollywood means a new age of bodies as we see many tattooed, arms, legs and backs…

Tamara Connolly struts her stuff in a Susan Luchy gown...

...but not all are so eager to boast about their designers, in fact I spot a Macy’s dress that I know full well was on sale for $199 a few weeks ago, because a friend bought it for her prom dress! Then there are always the actors who shun the plain black tux for something a little more...individual...

The gorgeous, eccentric and talented actor Keith David talks to us, known for films such as Platoon, Armageddon, There’s Something About Mary, Crash and most recently as the character Max Malini on the TV series The Cape. He reports the disappointing news that The Cape has been cancelled after only one 10 episode season (see zennie62.blogspot.com for interview).

In a completely different genre we have eleven year old R&B singer Lauren Taveras strutting her stuff on the red carped like she was born there.

We are told she is currently touring – this is a utube video her song ‘Party Up’…

Am I the only one who finds this video not only slightly disturbing, but fairly hilarious that she is partying with what seem to be her 16 year old friends…well she might give 11 year old Willow Smith a run for her pocket-money…

Celebs get political on the red carpet...

Hailed by press as ‘Mr. President’ actor Dennis Haysbert makes his way to us, looking very dashing in his tux and gives a great interview which can be found at zennie62.blogspot.com. I know him for his defining role as President of the United States of America in the TV series 24, starring Kiefer Sutherland. Haysbert is also known for drama series The Unit, and the Major League film trilogy.

The river of glitz and glamour goes on and on...

Finally the line dwindles to an end, and the celebrities descend into the crystal ballroom, whilst we hastily pack up and run to find a television screen to see what’s going on in The Kodak Theatre…
